We will never understand the former but the latter, the fattening of America is an easy one. Lets look at a few of the ways that the fast food industry is very smart at keeping us coming and eating food that we know full well is the worst for us.</p>
<p>First of all I have to say that <i>fast food marketing</i> just like most consumer goods is a commodity that can be marketed on it&#8217;s strengths while totally avoiding it&#8217;s weaknesses. That is the food can be created easily and changed with a marketing plan to improve sales and to do product testing. Here are a few things that marketers have done great in the past to sell us fast food.</p>
<h2>How fast food marketing Works</h2>
<p><strong>Sell to the kids and the adults follow</strong> &#8211; In my house I would like to say that my wife is in charge but really it is the kids.  The commercials for McDonalds are obvious with the selling of the free toys but really the happy family in the commercial is selling to us adults. If you are tired and driving and looking for something to eat the kids may plead for the toy but we as adults know it will happy and serene once we get in the restaurant (I know, it is not really true and so do you). This is a great example of how <u>fast food marketing</u> sets a tone and an expectation.<span id="more-1026"></span></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>How can we use this?</strong> Make sure that you marketing is not just selling benefits instead of features but keep it engaging to each part of the target market</p>
<p><strong>Food as entertainment</strong> &#8211; TV Commercials are engaging and there are lots of times that the fast food marketing can crate a story that we can follow for 30 seconds of someone quiet and alone at home and then out and having fun with friends at a restaurant. In Canada Boston Pizza definitely does a great job of doing this. Selling the dream of inclusiveness and fun has always been a good motivator</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>How can we use this?</strong> Story telling is a great way to get your message across tell stories in emails, blog posts, and articles. Also selling to the inner needs of our customers</p>
<p><strong>Pick Your Time Slot</strong> &#8211; Have you ever noticed when Pizza Hut puts fast food marketing commercials on TV? Not at dinner time while people are eating but instead later at night to catch the people too lazy to make something but still hungry. Just think (if you don&#8217;t do this already) If you are hungry at 8:00 at night and you see a pizza commercial with a phone number you can just order right away. Fast food marketing from the very beginning has tried to reduce friction to the sale by putting stores close to the neighborhoods and have had home delivery.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>How can we use this?</strong> Make sure you are going to your market where they are and giving them an offer that is easy to use</p>
<p>There are lots of things we can learn watching fast food marketing from the big marketing businesses engaged in fast food marketing on how to capture, engage, and then get our target into our sales funnel. <p>OK, so you have probably seen the commercial but to know a bit about Vince I also found an <a href="http://www.cnbc.com/id/28880253" rel="nofollow" >interview that he did with CNBC</a> a while back.</p>
<p>I really hated Sham Wow guy the first couple times that I saw the commercial, he seems to be a huckster and really aggresive in selling his product. Now that I have watched the commercial lots of times and had my daughter like it a lot I now have a different view of the whole phenomenon.</p>
<p>People hate to be sold and always have their guard up to a sales pitch, at least I tend to be that way. I think that Vince brings this to another level. We all know what a commercial is supposed to do, sell us it&#8217;s product, and instead of working on a buyers emotions Vince is really coming right out and selling hard, and aggressivly, selling benefits and features at the same time and this has apparently been very popular.</p>
<p>Another effective tool that Vince uses is the lower quality video and talking to the camera man, fast, and again showing the features like he is selling steak knives in the 80s.</p>
<p>Take a look at the video again and see what you think as a salesperson and marketer and not a buyer. It is really great</p>

<p>I used to get obsessed about my traffic but you are right and the thing that I have started to look at is how the blogs that I have and the blogs that i follow are a bit of an echo chamber.</p>
<p>There is no reason in this day and age of the internet to just make incremental change but instead I have been looking a lot more at how I can really expand what people would expect to see from a blog. Over the last year we have seen blogs become communities a lot more than just commenting, Arrington at <a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/" rel="nofollow" >Tech Crunch</a> and <a href="http://www.problogger.net" rel="nofollow" >Problogger</a> have job boards, many people are starting to build on forums and the blog is just a start to building a community with new articles as being the start.</p>
<p>There is good reason why we are doing what we do and for internet marketers we are looking for more traffic always but we should also be looking at what our traffic is worth to an advertiser. I have one page that converts almost nothing on 200 pageviews a day as the people are seeing the content, liking it and moving on.</p>
<p>What is more important than a pageview? There are a few things behind that visitor.</p>
<p><strong>How many pages is that visitor looking at?</strong></p>
<p><strong>How long is the visitor hanging around for? </strong></p>
<p><strong>Is there a good chance that the visitor is going to come back?</strong></p>
<p><strong>How much chance is there that this visitor will trust you enough to buy?</strong></p>
<p>These questions are stepping stones in the value of your traffic. As you get visitors you want to move your visitors through these questions to the point where your visitors are loyal to your positions on subjects within your niche.</p>
<p>Building content on a daily basis is important but more important still is doing what the big hitters and opinion leaders are doing and that is to add tools and features to build community amongst your viewership.</p>
<p>When you are looking at your traffic everyday, hopefully from Google Analytics,  look beyond the pageviews and visitors and instead look at how deep your visitors are going and start quizzing in your blog about what people would like to see to build up their experience and stay on your site.</p>

All you have to do is insert Adsense ad into your website or blog. That&#8217;s it.</p>
<p>With that said, now that you have your Google Adsense ads posted to your website you will need to drive traffic to it. For starters, everybody knows that content is king on the internet and search engines love it.</p>
<p>Fill your site with good quality keyword saturated content is the first step in getting you website noticed by Google and other search engines, keep you content up to date, try added new stuff weekly. RSS feeds also work nicely because it automatically ads fresh content to your site with no work on your end. Everybody likes that! I could go on and on about SEO but your web site content is probably the most important thing of all. People searching the web love information.</p>

You will also wont to customize you ads to go with the theme of your website, so they look a little more like content and less like ads. People will be more apt to click on them the ads that way.</p>

Ad a link to your site at the bottom and that&#8217;s it. If people have found what you have written interesting they will in most cases take a look and your site. Best of all it is free advertizement for you. There is also software out there that will automatically submit your articles for you and save you a ton of time.</p>
<p><strong>2. Get your site linked to as many high-ranking sites as possible. </strong>This can be down by contacting high-ranking sites with similar content to yours and requesting them to add your link in there site. This will help you get index in search engines faster and increase your page rank. Search engines like a lot of links from other high ranking sites. This makes you look more important to them.</p>
<p><strong>There are hundreds of ways to promote your site</strong>. I recommend just sticking to a few simple methods to start with. It is very easy to get over whelmed if you try doing too much.</p>
