Best Ways to Build Traffic to your Site

This is a page always in progress and will just be a big long list of ways and sources of traffic to your site. As we all know everyone seems to be always selling some new and fantastic traffic sources but really there is nothing magic about traffic.

Getting traffic has always basically built on the idea that good content finds it’s way to the people looking for it. If you have the best weight loss page it will get lots of traffic and if you have a terrible page it will get no traffic no matter what you do.

At the same time the best article that is of no interest to anyone will still not get any traffic. So be sure to write to a market that is big enough.

So here are a bunch of methods and sources of traffic.

Squidoo PagesSquidoo is a popular site. Just make sure that you are not writing spammy enough pages and add all of your backlinks to your related pages

Hub Pages – A type of article site that will give you lots of traffic as long as your personal rating is at least 75% and your article is over 50% Read the rest of this entry »

What the Biggest Loser Teaches us about Marketing

I am a fitness guy and fan of the show The Biggest Loser. I know lots of people hate this show now since it has almost run it’s course.

There are lots of reality shows and why are they popular? Shows like Biggest Loser, Survivor, Big Brother, and even the Bachelor all do the same kinds of things to hook us and these simple ideas can be brought to our own marketing for our products or affiliate programs to our customers.

So let’s just look at my show, the Biggest Loser, and why it is really popular even after 8 or so seasons. Here are the things that make it great.

Biggest Loser puts everything together. Fat couch potatoes  that have to workout, eat better. trainers to help them. Hosts that draw the trainers and contestants together and story lines Read the rest of this entry »

So, getting to the point…

How much does internet marketing cost?

A few months ago I was talking to my family about my internet marketing business and when they found out what I make they wanted me to set them up a site… Not so easy I told them, what I have learned has taken year but there is so much that I have wasted in time but fortunately not money.

So how much does it cost to start an internet business from your basement. Well let’s look at what I think that you need. I thin k that these are real costs. Real to me and therefore realistic for anyone starting out.

Computer – Almost any computer will do. I have a three year old computer and all I wish I had more of was screen real estate. I look longingly at 30 inch LCD monitors but realistically the 17 inch monitor works fine. Read the rest of this entry »

Chris Rempel Fanboy?

As a tech guy the term fanboy get bandied around quite a bit. Microsoft Fanboy, Apple Fanboy, heck there are even fanboys for individual kinds of video cards.

Well I may be a Chris Rempel fanboy….

Chris Rempel is a guy whos stuff I ran into a little while ago. Chris calls himself the Lazy Marketer and I think that he really isn’t but his processes are made to cut through all of the crap that we keep ourselves busy with and instead make sure that what we do is focussed on money making pursuits in affiliate marketing.

I have seen all of the product launches in internet marketing over the last 5 years or so and early on I was really sad that I could not buy them. Traffic Secrets, Butterfly Marketing, the Jeff Johnson stuff. But what I found after a while was that all of these $1000+ or even $2995 programs where mostly about the hype and tried to offer everything at the same time probably giving those poor buyers nothing but confusion and a lack of direction and a mad spouse.

Well that is another reason that I am liking Chris’s stuff All of the reports are only 12-30 pages and cost 10 to 20 bucks. I am really cheap and will read all of the free content on the internet but there is something speciual about buying a short, concise report that will teach you one thing well and give you an action plan so that you can start to make money right away.

I don’t know if I have done a very good job of selling you on the Chris Rempel Lazy Marketer system but if you want to see his nice short salespages these are the programs that I have bought so far.

Confessions of a lazy super affiliate

Confessions of a lazy super affiliate was actually a long read. This ebook was actually 62 pages and covers everything that is Chris’s lazy affiliate system. It was a long read and covered the following:

• Part 1: How to Identify and Tap Into Massive, Existing Demand
• Part 2: The Real Difference Between Making Pocket Change – or a Fortune
• Part 3: Instant, Free Traffic Has Never Been Easier…
• Part 4: The Honest Truth About SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
• Part 5: Drastically Increase Affiliate Income By Creating Your Own Products
• Part 6: Duplication Strategies For Multiplying Revenues Easily
• Conclusion: My Final Rant
• Resources: Tools of the Trade (Not the Usual Crap)

The chapter titles are really intriguing and the book itself was a long read for me as it deals with using a very step by step process for building many affiliate businesses. I took a couple of days to really get though this book and implemented it immediately.

The Conduit Method

I covered this in an earlier post when there was a great Webinar that I attended but the Conduit Method was able to work for me right away. I was lucky with the one of the first five products that I marketed and made about $1000 in the first three months of this year from just one review formatted correctly with some great backlinks. All covered in detail in the Conduit Method.

Here is what the Conduit Method book covers in only 13 pages:

Introduction – Why “Conventional” Affiliate Marketing is Hard
Part 1 – The Conduit Method – Explained
Part 2 – The Conduit Method – Shooting Fish in a Barrel
Part 3 – The Conduit Method – How To Get Started NOW
Part 4 – Some Technical Considerations & Suggestions

The book costed me $14.95 and even as cheap as I am I found the book great. I always feel nervous about short books but really I could put out a book full of crap and make is over a couple hundred pages and still not cover anything well. Chris has a whole system in 13 pages that you can read and understand in an hour and create a site based on this new knowledge within a night.

Fantastic stuff that Chris offers.

So after reading this post I hope you can see now why I am a Chris Rempel fanboy.

Busy or just wasting time

I have been spending far too muc time lately Twittering, reading feeds and planning and far too little time executing so I ma going to try this week to post a few bits on how to stop wasting time thinking that we are actually working and instead come up with some real ways to start achieving instead.

By the way the $100,000 this year is not going so well, my income is only around $2500 per month this year so I am going to have to change that header soon to stop the embarrassment of a failed goal.

OK, so getting started to stop these bunches of wasted time I am going to tell you to stop being really cheap, I am a cheap guy who does not do pay per click or outsource nearly enough but this is going to be part of the plan going forward.

Another couple of things that I really want to get off of my chest this week will be fighting or loving technology as well as getting rid of that crappy feeling that you are about to sit down with nothing to do in particular and then getting up two hours later not sure if you got anything really done.

So come back later today (or tomorrow if you caught this post early) and we will get started making some money instead of sitting on our asses getting nothing done.

Important website stats to track

In the month of July I got very close to a big number that I track. I was up to 95,000 pageviews for the month. I have to think that if I push then maybe the slow month of August will help me pass that magical 100,000 pageviews across my sites. This got me to thinking what stats I should focus on.

Whatever we focus on will make us understand and control. If I am looking at pageviews then I can do things like promote to get more pageviews but what if I decide to look at pageviews per visit? If I concentrate on enhancing the exit point for my readers then perhaps I can increase that from 1.4 to 1.5 pages per visitor. That would by itself get me over 101,000 views even if my number of visitors stays the same.

I use two pieces of Google to watch my stats, Google Analytics for individual bigger sites to track all stats on those sites and I put Google Adsense on every page of every site of mine to help me track pageviews as the day and month goes on. I know my total pageviews becuase I am able to see those pageviews. Read the rest of this entry »

What are you doing about Euro 2008?

In just a couple of days the Euro 2008 Soccer tournament starts. What is Euro 2008 and why as an internet marketer should you care?

Well Euro 2008 is this years edition of the European soccer tournament that takes place once every four years so just as the World Cup of soccer takes places every four years, the euro soccer tournament would take place on the next even year. So as you can imagine this soccer tournament is a very big deal to soccer fans around the world not just in Europe.

Now maybe you are starting to care. It is estimated that 7.9 BILLION people watched games during Euro 2004 and this years games in Austria and Switzerland are expected to be even bigger.

No matter what your market is you have to know that many of your visitors or potential visitors anyway are going to be watching games this month during the Euro 2008 tournament.

Think of angles in your marketing that reflect on the tournament, there will be billions of searches during the next month to do with soccer and I am sure that you can find angles to write articles or blog posts about this tournament and how it relates to your product.

Internet Marketing Cure Free Ebook

I just found a cool ebook on Twitter that you can sign up to a list and recieve free of charge. It is really cool and called the Internet Marketing Cure. The internet marketing cure is a book that turns that whole internet marketing guru thing around.

The book goes into a lot of detail about how we follow around all of these gurus and don’t become dorus, the gurus that actually do the work. It is a real nice way for you to look at what you are doing and what you should be doing instead. I am the worst for this as I spend a lot of time just reading rss feeds, following conversations on Twitter and wasting lots of time surfing for new ideas instad of actually doing what mattered.

Check out the free ebook and see what you think.
