Well yesterday I finished off a weekend long process of optimizing the SEO on my Wordpress blogs.
First of all, this weekend I only worried about on page optimizing as I have less control over off page optimizing although i am always looking for more links to my good pages.
So yesterday afternoon and last night I looked at every one of my review pages and optimized a few things
Page Title - Wordpress has two ways that it makes a page title, the post slug, which is the name of the URL, the .html of the page and the page title itself. If you change the URL then all of your links into your page will be broken - not good. I did however optimize the page titles to include only or almost only the keywords that I wanted to optimize for.
Header tags - I have all of my post use the page title as a <H1> tag. I also tried to break up text to use the <H2> and in some cases <H3> tags. This makes the page more readable and better for the visitor as well as telling search engines what is important about your pages.
Keyword density - I know that this is a tough one. I found that i was not using the keywords that I was optimizing for on each of my review pages, sometimes not at all. I added some keyword density to all of the pages.
Cleaning up reviews - Some of the reviews were a little messy and I tried to make them cleaner and flow better. Optimizing for the end user not the search engines in this case

I spent a few hours last night making sure that all of my Wordpress blogs were optimized, SEO was good and that the blogs were in fact running correctly. I went through a lot of steps but I have a bunch of blogs, some running Wordpress 2.3 and some running Wordpress 2.5 and did all of the optimizing for SEO at the same time.
Here are the steps that I took on each of the blogs
1. Getting rid of extra Wordpress plugins - I got rid of all of the extra SEO plugins knowing that I was going to be using the All in one SEO Pack. I had a bunch of other meta tag stuff and URL rewriting stuff but I just wanted to standardize. Another plugin that I upgraded on all blogs was the Sociable plugin that puts little “Share this on social networking sites” buttons under each post. Read the rest of this entry »

An internet marketing journal is a great way to keep track of ideas that oyu have for your internet marketing business.
When I become overwhelmed with ideas and plans and even just blog posts ideas I will dump them all into a big list. At one point last year got myself a new Mead Five Star ringed notebook and started writing down all of the things that I had to get done in my internet marketing business as well as some of the processes that I was just starting to get into place.
After a couple of days of writing down ideas as they fell out of my brain I had a list of about 50 site, SEO and mass marketing ideas and another list of 50 or so blog post ideas.
When I look back now at this list I can see that I implemented about half of each of the lists and the other half were just crap. I think that this is a great method so I want to just get down a list of what is important in these lists. Read the rest of this entry »

Link building is incredibly important. Once you have created a great page I think that you are very well advised to optimize that page as much as possible. You know, title tag, header tag optimized keywords… anyway if you do not know that we can get into that another time. To build links from other sites to yours creates a nice warm feeling of trust to those search engines and the links are always good for traffic month in and month out. I just found a great article on the best startegies to get new links to your blog and thought I would share.
Five Link Building Strategies That Work | Copyblogger
For sure check out the article but I want to give my 2 cents as well
Social media - If you can get a technological bent out of a story then you can submit to Digg or Reddit or any number of social networking sites. If you are trying to make Adsense or affiliate money from that link it is a lost cause in my opinion but if your content is good then you will get a lot of links and that is the goal of thgis article right?
Linking out - Make sure that you write a lot of articles like this one. Link to an original story and then add to that story by providing your insights.
Networking emails - email other like minded bloggers for a link. I really don’t like this one, it is a lot like buying links
Guest appearances - If you get bored writing or run out of ideas then why not hand off your blog for a week and have someone else write in yours while you write in theirs. This is a great way to get new ideas and keep yourself fresh.
Article Directories - This is one that I have always liked to use. Change up a blog post and post to ezinearticles.com or/and goarticles.com
