The Gurus and Internet Marketing as a niche

Ever since I started in internet marketing I thought it would be a good idea to market to the people looking to make money online. Of course there would always be someone that knew more than me but it was something that I was always passionate about since I myself wanted to make a living with an online business.
Well as I started looking around three years ago or so it seemed that all the gurus, you know the guys telling us what to do and what works or doesn’t work, seem to say that every niche is good EXCEPT for internet marketing. Don’t go into the internet marketing niche, “There is too much competition”, “No one will believe you unless you have made a lot of money yourself”, I have trouble remembering them all now but everyone was quite clear that marketing to marketers was a bad idea.
Well then I started this blog anyway. In fact whenever I look at what is out there for books or articles to teach online marketers what to do and what works it seems that there is very little knowledge and a lot of self or product promotion instead.
And this week all that changed again.
Anatomy of a product launch
John Resses came out with a Shocking Video, and in that video he said that marketing to marketers is in fact a great business. And you know where to start? By buying into his new Internet Marketers program. And he will be charging $2495. I wish I had the cache to be cocky enough to charge like this, but then John Reese is a legend in the internet marketing circles.
And then the floodgates open.
All of the usual suspects (friends that travel together) were sending out stuff. Joel Comm told me there was this great Armand Morin package, Jeff Walker is sending out email again with the “I almost never endorse anything” Ray Edwards said the same thing and added a video testimonial to the giant sales page, I know these long sales pages work, but I will rant another time about that, and I am sure all the lists that I have already dropped myself from are plugging them as well.
I don’t know if the package is any good but it just smacks of the same vague information to make a decision on. I can’t really tell what Armand Morin is selling just like the enigma that was Mike Filsaimes Butterfly Marketing was, and even John Resse Traffic Secrets.
So I guess this marketing tactic is something that we will have to live with, and by the way I think this is a Mike Filsaime method, to have everyone pump the same stuff with no content, oh sorry I guess the content was the sales pitch.
I would love to see a comment from someone on how good this product is without a sales pitch or a link but that is something that we never see.
