I have started using an online app for managing my twitter followers and for unfollowing people that are either inactive or are not following me back.
I don’t mean to be the kind of guy that is at all elitest on Twitter but the problem that you inevitably run into is that you are not able to follow more people as you are already following to many and not enough people are following you back.
There are lots of reasons that people will not be following you back when you are following them.
- Your tweets are not interesting to that other person
- The people you are following are not actually using Twitter at all
- You are following a bot, and bots don’t follow back
- Your followers just aren’t very engaged
- Katy Perry really isn’t that into you
Managing Twitter Followers and Unfollowing with Tweepi
So because of these reasons I started looking for some kind of an app that would allow me to check out my followers and try to prune out the ones that are not using Twitter. Lets face it, over time lots of people have dropped off of Twitter.
After lots of looking and trying different tools I ended up looking at Tweepi. Tweepi allows you to slice and dice your followers. I have made a video that you can see below where I talk about Tweepi following and unfollowing tools.
Not only do I show you around the interface but also give you a few power tips for using Tweepi even better.
I know that this video contains a lot but I also really like this tool. Tweepi takes about 15 minutes a day for me across three different Twitter accounts and in that time I am able to use the free portion on two of my accounts to unfollow 200 people and to also follow 500 people.
Relevant Following With Tweepi
All these new people I am following with Tweepi are tightly aligned to my niche and will be good people to follow and have follow back.
The 200 I am unfollowing are people that never followed me back a week ago.
My third Twitter account that I am using the Tweepi “Silver” membership for. This membership costs my $7.49 a month and allows me to follow 950 people a day and to unfollow 500 people a day. Again these are very focussed followers as you can see from the video above.
So I have to say, even if you are not interested in paying for a Tweepi account it is still a really good idea to use the free version of the tool to manage your followers and unfollowers. There is some auto direct messages in Tweepi but I do not use that part of the site at all and instead use Hootsuite for managing my interactions and conversations within Twitter.
